Far more than a simple charity, ‘Yes We Can’ teaches sewing and business skills, in public libraries and community halls, to women from impoverished areas of Cape Town. Our teachers are our previous students who now run classes by themselves. We have trained more than 500 ladies in less than three years.
The same group of teachers form our team of permanent seamstresses. We sew African inspired products such as backpacks, conference bags, laptop bags, pencil cases, dresses, and anything else we can think of.
Our ladies became self employed and work from home. As we have been in lockdown in South Africa for a few months now, we have become producers of washable masks, even before they became mandatory.
Our organisation Yes We Can is asocial enterprise ensuring that the most vulnerable have access to masks.
Thank you so much for the support. Our masks have kept 15 families with an income during lockdown, and this has been their only income in most cases. With your support we would like this to continue.
